Neil Young Comes a Time: My Tribute
66
Neil Young is one of my few idols. I was introduced to his music around 30 years ago. The first songs of his I heard, as I recall, were Sugar Mountain and Powderfinger. I just love his voice, lyrics, his presentation, etc. I have seen him twice solo and once with Crazy Horse. These all were awesome experiences for me! The Crazy Horse show was at the Gorge in George in Central Washington State and wow what a great time!
Digging through some of my OLD writings, I came across a poem I wrote as a tribute to his song Comes a Time. Was it a poem or a song I wrote---I don't know. I don't know what to call it.
As you read my version just imagine the same melody, beat, etc. that you hear when you listen to the original. I'm not asking for compliments (or insults) per se...I'm just sharing some words I wrote down years ago.
Here Is What I Scribbled Down Years Ago
Comes a time when we'll dream of - those dreamy days of not so long ago. Comes a time when we'll think of - that perfect thing which seemed to slip away. Ohhhh yeah, this old world keeps spinning - a web that seems never ending - there comes a time.
There was a time when we did wrong - and there were times when we were not so strong. There was a day when we cursed God - and there were times when we knelt down to pray. Ohhhh yeah, this old world keeps spinning - a web that seems never ending - there comes a time.
There was a time when I asked why - and there was that day when I longed to fly. There is a thought that I think of - when all around me seems to turn to gray. There is a world that I'm a part of - it stays with me when all else strays away. There comes a time when I'll return to - that which I left only yesterday.
Ohhhh yeah, this old world keeps spinning - a web that seems never ending - there comes a time.
Lyrics to Neil Young's Masterpiece
Comes a time
when you're driftin'
Comes a time
when you settle down
Comes a light
feelin's liftin'
Lift that baby
right up off the ground.
Oh, this old world
keeps spinning round
It's a wonder tall trees
ain't layin' down
There comes a time.
A Great Video of Comes a Time Circa Mid 1980s
You and I we were captured
We took our souls
and we flew away
We were right
we were giving
That's how we kept
what we gave away.
Oh, this old world
keeps spinning round
It's a wonder tall trees
ain't layin' down
There comes a time.
I think Neil Young's talent is mind boggling and consider him a genius.
Well, are there any other hubbers or hub visitors out there that like or love Neil Young? Did you grow up listening to his music? Have you seen him (or with Crazy Horse) in concert? I hope you liked this hub.

I bought my husband After The Goldrush, when we were just 14 years old. It did the trick we have been married 36 years now, and we were so fortunate to have seen him locally last year..... he is still as good as ever. I love your version also.
